hledger, on your phone.
Plain-text accounting on a phone, kept in a private repository of your own. hledger itself does the accounting — the real thing, compiled to WebAssembly and running in the page. No account to make, nothing uploaded, free and without advertising.
hledger itself does the accounting
Not a reimplementation. hledger-lib is compiled to WebAssembly and answers what the screens ask of it. The figures are hledger's own, and the journal stays the text file it was.
How it works →Kept in a private repository
It syncs with a private repository through a fine-grained token, straight from the browser. Entries written on a phone land after the ones written on a desktop. Where both have rewritten the same lines, it says so rather than letting either win.
Keeping it in a repository →Receipts, read on your phone
Photograph a receipt and it is read into an entry on the device, with the figures checked against each other before a total is believed. Nothing goes in without being shown to you first, and talking about your books is for an agent of your own.
Receipts and agents →You own your accounting data
Your books are not held inside any one company's accounting software. They are plain text, saved in a repository of your own. choai is built on hledger and keeps the journal in hledger's own format, so if choai ever goes away, the same file opens in hledger just as it is. The data stays with you, for good.
